Mobile modernisation and discovery for a Field Service Management scale-up
Our client provides Field Service Management software to over 2,500 businesses, offering tools for job scheduling, invoicing and payment automation, mobile workforce management, and client engagement.
The challenge
Hyperact was initially engaged to modernise one of the client’s Manager mobile apps, which gives business owners and managers real-time visibility of their workforce on the go. Following the successful delivery of the new Manager mobile app in just 10 weeks, we were asked to lead a comprehensive discovery for the client’s flagship Workforce mobile app used daily by over 40,000 field service professionals.
How we helped
Manager app delivery
- Ran internal workshops, customer interviews, and surveys to understand user needs and pain points
- Analysed usage data and reviewed the existing Cordova-based solution
- Designed a new target architecture aligned with client’s emerging micro-frontend strategy
- Created prototypes and tested new UI concepts using the company’s design system
- Built and delivered the modernised Manager app incrementally – launched in under 10 weeks
Workforce app discovery
- Conducted extensive research: workshops, data analysis, interviews, surveys, and on-site customer shadowing
- Reviewed competitors and assessed the existing technical landscape (Java/Kotlin on Android; Swift/ObjectiveC on iOS)
- Built a working proof-of-concept using React Native and Expo to validate the tech stack
- Collaborated with the client’s design leadership on a new mobile design vision
- Defined a future-facing mobile product strategy and roadmap
- Delivered a comprehensive business case with costed options: modernise vs rebuild; outsource vs hybrid vs in-house
